Wove in
A collection of handmade, woven, sustainable, artworks
Welcome, my name is Libby.
I have always had a connection to the natural, organic side of life. As I have grown and travelled, I have been able to further explore my passion for creating beautiful art with natural resources. Unlocking the fibres in a plant to create something new has been a way to connect with myself. Each piece created is an extension of me, an expression of my journey in the world at that time. My designs and materials change like the seasons.
Pieces are hand woven, all with natural fibres and plant dyes. Each piece is made with no real planning just acceptance of the journey, each is woven, stitch by stitch growing in an organic way.
My aim is beautiful art that has little to no negative impact on the environment and in turn also help the native flora by using invasive species in my work or occasionally using discarded plastic that would otherwise end up in landfill.
My hope for my work is that it will be loved for generations but also, when it is time, it can go back into the natural landscape to be one with the earth again.
A gorgeous trinket bowl adorned with little fungi.
All my pieces are created with plant dyed raffia. The bowl of this piece is a result of experimentation of indigo powder and henna, with slight black marks from the iron in the pot. In different lights you will pick up greens and browns.
The mushrooms are a result of a madder dye where the Ph has been adjusted which gave an amazing orange compared to the original red.
Basket is 11.5cm x 4cm with the highest mushroom sitting at 6cm tall.
A sweet magical basket that sits only 4cm tall. Hand woven with raffia dyed with pomegranate skins and iron.
She is able to be opened and store little treasures.
This little basket is light and hardly noticeable when worn.
The necklace strap is adjustable and holds some brass and wood beads.
A set of beautiful serpent inspired woven goodness.
Both the earrings and hairpiece are a simple repurposed piece of leather centre adorned with a burnt in snake with coil woven raffia around.
Raffia has been dyed with Madder.
Hair Piece is 9 × 8cm cm
Hair pin is 12cm - Eucyluptus
Earrings 7cm from hop of hook to bottom of weave
These pieces are made strong and unique, hair pins should be treated with kindness to keep them lasting.
